With
little actual warning, the HK cops-and-robbers thriller Infernal
Affairs destroyed all comers this past Christmas season.
At over 55 million
Hong Kong dollars, the film has gone on to become the territory's second
highest-grossing local film "Shaolin Soccer". Cries of "Box
Office Mirmpeted by Hong Kong's so-called fourth estate, which advanced
the opinion that Hong Kong Cinema was revived. Still, it would be preferable if
a box-office revival came with an actual good
motion picture. Thankfully, they
pulled it off; despite some flaws. Infernal Affairs was one of
the few best movies in the year 2002. Subsequently, in the year 2003, Infernal Affairs 2
and Infernal Affairs 3 were out. Although the review about Infernal Affairs
was rather good, but the Infernal Affairs series is an incredibly polished trilogy of films.
However when one film is attempted to stretch it into three, some marks are
going to show. Plot wise, the film takes things to cinematic extremes that
probably didn't have to exist, given all the evidence at hand.
